OVERVIEW

ABOUT DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling is sticking a really thin, sterile needle right into a muscle knot that refuses to chill out. Those knots, or trigger points, make everything feel stiff, sore, sometimes like the pain spreads into other spots you didn’t expect. A lot of people actually notice something changing pretty fast, sometimes after the first go. It’s used all the time for headaches, shoulders that feel locked, lower back pain, tendon flare-ups, and even plantar fasciitis.

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

Getting on the schedule is simple. If you like to talk to a person, just call our Chandler clinic. If you’d rather click a button, book online. Either way, before you show up, we’ll explain what happens so it’s not a mystery.

SCHEDULE

REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT

It’s rarely a one-and-done thing. Most folks need a handful of sessions, usually spread over a few weeks. Some feel a difference fast, others it builds slower, but either way, we map out a plan so you’re not guessing how often to come in.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

Before anything happens, the therapist checks how you move, feels around for tightness, and listens to your story about what hurts. Sometimes, where you feel the pain isn’t the actual troublemaker, so we track down what’s really behind it.

TREATMENTS

CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM

Needle goes in, muscle reacts. Maybe you feel a quick twitch, maybe even a cramp. Then, more often than not, the muscle lets go, and you get that wave of relief.

FOLLOW UP

WE CALL TO CHECK IN

The first treatment is just the start. Follow-ups let us see how your body is handling it and tweak things so the results stick around longer.

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

What Are You Experiencing?

You may not know specifically what type of treatment you would require. What you do know is that you hurt, and right now that’s really what is most important. To better know how to serve you, please take a few minutes to fill out this brief form describing the discomfort or pain you are experiencing. With a clearer idea, we will contact you to discuss what may be occurring and how we may be able to assist.

SEVERE PAIN

If you are experiencing severe pain that is not intolerable, don’t wait. Call 911 or proceed directly to your nearby hospital. When the emergency is treated, we will then be prepared to work together to assist you in gaining longer-term relief.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

Maybe your pain isn’t keeping you back, but it is making daily living a bit harder than it has to be. If it’s sharp, annoying, or keeps coming back, let us know what you’re dealing with. We can start together to investigate why it’s happening and how we can make it better.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Minor aches may not seem significant, but sometimes they are your body’s way of telling you it needs a helping hand. The stiffness, soreness, or occasional pains are great things to bring to our attention. Let us know what you’ve been experiencing, and we’ll point you in the direction of care that prevents small issues from turning into large ones.

Answering Your Questions

Does it hurt?

Some people barely notice the needle at all. Others feel a sharp poke, then a twitch that surprises them. Afterward, it’s common to feel sore, like you overdid squats or yard work. That soreness usually fades in a day or so.

Is everyone a good fit for it?

Not exactly. Most people can, but if you’re pregnant, on blood thinners, or dealing with certain medical stuff, we might suggest something else. That’s why we ask about your health history before anything starts. We’d rather say “not today” than push a treatment that’s not safe for you.

Why do athletes like it so much?

Because their muscles get stubborn, they think about training day after day, tight hamstrings, locked-up calves, and shoulders that don’t loosen even after stretching. Dry needling can hit those exact trigger points and reset the muscle.

How long until it works?

It depends. Some folks walk out of the first session saying they feel lighter, others don’t notice big changes until the second or third time. Chronic pain usually takes more patience. Fresh injuries can heal faster. Either way, you’ll know within a few visits if it’s helping.

What’s a session like?

15 to 30 minutes. The therapist finds the spots, places the needles, and checks how you respond. Sometimes they add stretching or exercises before or after. The combo works better than the needles by themselves. And before you leave, we’ll tell you what to expect later that day so you’re not caught off guard.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
