At Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of Gilbert, AZ, diagnostic ultrasound is used when pain shows up on its own terms. Everything feels fine until one motion changes it. A knee catches near the bottom of a squat. A shoulder tugs only when reaching across the body. A tendon stays quiet until the last few minutes of activity. These moments are hard to explain when the body is still. Diagnostic ultrasound lets us watch tissue while it is working. Seeing muscles, tendons, and joints move in real time often explains why pain appears only during certain actions and disappears once you stop.

Ultrasound is sometimes used right away to help guide early decisions. Other times it comes later, when symptoms change or progress slows. The timing depends on what information is missing, not a set routine.

EXAM & IMAGING
Ultrasound allows us to see how soft tissue behaves under load. We can observe a tendon during motion, a muscle as it activates, or a joint as it moves through a painful range. This matters when pain only exists during activity. Watching tissue react often points to the real source faster than still exams.
TREATMENTS
CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM
Clear information leads to clearer care. Once we know which tissue is involved, physical therapy can focus where it matters most. Exercises, pacing, and activity limits become easier to set and easier to follow.

WE CALL TO CHECK IN
Ultrasound may be used again to check how things are changing. Tissue often starts moving better before pain fully fades. Seeing that shift helps guide when to progress and when to stay patient.

This is our go to place for all physical therapy! We have been coming here for at least 3 years now for my daughter’s sports injuries from dance. They also do imaging so it is a 1 stop clinic. Anyone looking for a PT team look no further. I had an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery mid-September. Physical Therapy was recommended after week 4 post surgery. My journey to find the right fit began and ended at Modern Physical Therapy in Gilbert. I was looking for a ‘team’ that would partner with me so I would receive the best, safest and most effective care/results possible knowing that my recovery would not be easy or a quick fix. My treatments began the beginning of October with Ben and Drey who are great listeners, are extremely accomplished with all types of needs and have been an amazing part of my team. Equally as important are the girls who are at the front desk. The girls are first to welcome you, accommodate your schedules while making appts, and answer any questions you may have with insurance etc. I highly recommend Modern PT and their entire team!!
