OVERVIEW
ABOUT DRY NEEDLING
Dry needling involves a very small, sterile needle that is placed into the muscle knot or the trigger point, and that usually makes the muscle relax. These knots are often why people deal with ongoing soreness, stiffness that does not go away, or pain that spreads to places you did not expect. It is used for headaches, back or shoulder problems, tendon irritation, plantar fasciitis, and for athletes who are tired of muscles that never seem to loosen, no matter what they do.
BOOKING APPOINTMENTS
Appointments are easy to arrange. Some people like to call and talk it through, others go straight to the online booking page. Either way, before your first visit, we explain how the process works so you are not guessing.

SCHEDULE
REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT
One visit may help, but it rarely solves the whole issue. Most patients need several sessions, spread out over a few weeks. It depends on how severe the problem is and how your body reacts. We build a plan with you so the schedule feels clear.
DIAGNOSE
EXAM & IMAGING
Every treatment starts with an evaluation. Your therapist will ask questions about your pain, test how you move, and press on the muscles that seem tight.
TREATMENTS
CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM
The needle is placed into the trigger point. You may feel a twitch, maybe a cramp that surprises you, but usually the muscle releases right after.
FOLLOW UP

Follow-ups are where progress builds. We check how your body responded, adjust the approach if needed, and keep the results from fading too quickly.

This is our go to place for all physical therapy! We have been coming here for at least 3 years now for my daughter’s sports injuries from dance. They also do imaging so it is a 1 stop clinic. We have been very pleased with the results but what’s set them apart is the staff. They take their time to explain everything to you, take their time with the therapy and treat you like family. We highly recommend them to everyone we know!

Anyone looking for a PT team look no further. I had an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery mid-September. Physical Therapy was recommended after week 4 post surgery. My journey to find the right fit began and ended at Modern Physical Therapy in Gilbert. I was looking for a ‘team’ that would partner with me so I would receive the best, safest and most effective care/results possible knowing that my recovery would not be easy or a quick fix. My treatments began the beginning of October with Ben and Drey who are great listeners, are extremely accomplished with all types of needs and have been an amazing part of my team. Equally as important are the girls who are at the front desk. The girls are first to welcome you, accommodate your schedules while making appts, and answer any questions you may have with insurance etc. I highly recommend Modern PT and their entire team!!

Modern PT is excellent. They are very supportive and really do a good job with therapy. The whole staff is very kind. They take 1 hour and run on time which I really like. I appreciate their treatments. I feel much better after a hard surgery.

What Are You Experiencing?
Most people don’t come in knowing exactly what treatment they need. What they do know is that something hurts. That’s all we need to start. Fill out this quick form and just tell us how your pain feels. Once we read through it, we’ll give you a call to talk about what might be causing it and what we can do to help.
LOW HIGH
SEVERE PAIN
If your pain feels unbearable or you can’t think straight, please don’t wait; call 911 or head to the hospital right away. Get the urgent care first. Once you’re safe, we’ll be here to help with the next steps.
MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT
This is the kind of pain that doesn’t stop you completely, but it makes every day harder. Maybe it’s sharp. Maybe it’s dull and won’t let up. Write down what it feels like. We’ll go over it with you and start figuring out what’s behind it.
MINOR PAINS & ACHES
Even the small stuff matters. A stiff back in the morning, sore joints after work, or little aches that keep showing up are all worth paying attention to. Tell us what you’ve been noticing, and we’ll help you stay on top of it before it gets worse.

Answering Your Questions
What does dry needling feel like?
It feels different for everyone. Some people describe a small pinch, others a twitch or cramp that comes and goes fast. Many compare the soreness to what happens when you work out too hard, that heavy feeling in the muscle the next day. It usually fades in a day or two. The relief that follows is what most people notice more.
Is it safe?
Yes, it is considered safe when performed by a trained therapist. At our clinic, only licensed professionals do the treatment, and sterile single-use needles are always used. We also go over your medical history first. Some people may not be good candidates, such as those who are pregnant or taking certain medications.
How can it help athletes?
Athletes often push their muscles harder than most, and those muscles sometimes stay locked up. Runners deal with calves that never feel loose. Swimmers and weightlifters complain about shoulders that stay stiff. Dry needling targets those trigger points directly, so the muscle finally gives in.
How quickly does it work?
Some patients walk out of their first session feeling lighter and moving easier. Others notice a change after the second or third time. It depends on the condition. Chronic pain usually takes more time. New injuries often respond quicker.
What happens during a visit?
The therapist places the needles, checks your response, and may add in stretches or simple exercises. That combination helps lock in the results instead of relying only on the needle itself.
