OVERVIEW
ABOUT SCIATICA TREATMENT
Sciatica doesn't feel like ordinary back pain. It shoots. It burns. It runs a line of fire from your lower back down through the hip and into the leg, sometimes clear to the foot. Sitting sets it off. Standing sets it off. Some days there's no position that feels right. What's actually happening is that the sciatic nerve, the biggest one in your body, is being pressed on or irritated somewhere along its path, so it complains down the whole length. Our team starts by finding what's crowding it. Might be a disc in the lower back. Might be tight muscles squeezing the nerve where it passes through. Might be stiff joints in the spine leaving it no room. From there we take the pressure off, loosen what's feeding it, and build the support that keeps it calm. Most sciatica settles without surgery, since the nerve is usually irritated rather than damaged, and an irritated nerve can quiet down once you stop provoking it.

EXAM & IMAGING
We find what's pressing on the nerve, check which positions ease or worsen it, and watch how you move. That first read points the plan at the real source.

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

Answering Your Questions
Is my leg pain definitely sciatica?
Not always, which is worth checking. True sciatica follows the nerve's path down the back of the leg and often comes with tingling or numbness. But tight glute muscles and hip problems can mimic it closely.
Why does sitting make it so much worse?
Sitting increases pressure on the discs in your lower back and puts the nerve in a compressed position, especially if you're slouched. That's why long drives and desk work are common flare triggers. Getting up and moving regularly often takes the edge off.
Are there positions that help during a flare?
Usually, yes, and finding yours is one of the first things treatment does. Most people have a specific direction or position that eases the symptoms and pulls the pain back up out of the leg. Once identified, favoring it helps calm the nerve down.
Can sciatica cause weakness in my leg?
It can. A compressed nerve sometimes affects strength as well as sensation, showing up as a foot that drags or a leg that feels unreliable. That's a sign to get seen sooner rather than later, since progressing weakness needs a closer look.
How long does sciatica usually take to settle?
It varies. Some cases ease within a few weeks with the right approach. Longer-standing ones take more time, since the nerve has been irritated a while and the support around the back needs rebuilding. The plan adjusts as you respond.
