OVERVIEW

ABOUT SPINAL & DISC REHABILITATION

Spinal and disc rehab is key to aiding those who experience an ongoing feeling that back or neck pain is just going to come back, despite everything that is tried. A few patients refer to a sharp jolting feeling in the lower back when grabbing something. Others mention stiffness that develops over the day to the point that it does not feel possible to get comfortable. A few mention numbness or tingling down the leg that causes a feeling of uncertainty when it comes to walking. Symptoms do something more than hurt; they disrupt normal activities and erode confidence in movement over time. At the West Mesa clinic, therapists strive to discover the actual reason the spine is suffering. It may be weak core muscles, irritated discs, or stiff joints that constrain movement. Each regimen is individual. Some sessions emphasize stability, others stretching, and others hands-on therapy. Progress may come slowly, but step by step, the plan is toward a spine that moves without fear of hurt.

This place is great! They offer ultrasound to diagnose. After my ultrasound they set me up with a plan to get better. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! Highly recommend going here!

I had awesome physical therapy at Modern PT. After tearing my bicep tendon, I needed help and I got it. It is easy to schedule appointments and always on time. Amber, scheduling, Taylor, PT and Nathan…

Modern Physical therapy helped me so much and I would recommend them to anyone who needs Physical therapy. I had a sharp pain in my right hip. The first visit, after having a detailed conversation and assessment, including an ultrasound to really see what the problem is, Brianne was able to focus on the exact area. I had 12 sessions and I am feeling so much better. My right hip doesn’t have the sharp pain it had previously. She gave me a home exercise program to continue doing on my own so I can continue strengthening the muscles I need to so this problem doesn’t happen again. The staff is so kind and friendly – I always felt comfortable there and cared about!

What Are You Experiencing?

Pain is difficult to articulate, and you don’t need to have the “right” words. Just tell us how you have been feeling it. Use the brief form to tell us in your own words like sharp, dull, or won’t stop. We will then contact you so that we can talk a little bit about what might be happening and how we may be able to help.

SEVERE PAIN

If the pain is intolerable, don’t wait. Call 911 or go straight to the hospital. Safety is foremost. Then, after addressing that, we’ll be able to assist you in the next steps toward comfort.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

This kind of pain is not going to keep you from doing things, but it makes daily life difficult. Maybe it hits in bursts, maybe it is always there. Attribute it to the best of your ability. That’s all we need in order to start to understand what is happening.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Even small aches matter. That morning stiffness in your lower back, muscle aches in your legs after a day, or that pesky spot you’ve been ignoring. Those are things we want to talk about. Tell us what you’ve been feeling, and we’ll do our best to get ahead of it.

Answering Your Questions

What conditions are treated with spinal and disc rehab?

These consist of disc herniations, sciatica, spinal stenosis, long-term low back pain, and postural problems. It is also used in patients suffering from long-term stiffness or nerve irritability that limits daily activity.

How does rehab help prevent flare-ups?

By strengthening the spine-protecting muscles and instructing improved movement patterns. Gradually, this reduces the likelihood of abrupt flare-ups and maintains the spine stable when performing daily activities.

Will I be able to keep exercising during rehab?

Typically, yes. Patients engage in activity with safe, supervised movement. At West Mesa, therapists tell you what is safe and what can wait for so that you remain active without setbacks.

How do I know therapy is working if pain is still there?

Relief is not always all-or-nothing. Sometimes progress shows up as being able to sit longer, sleep through the night, or walk farther before the pain returns. These small wins show the body is adapting.

Is spinal rehab safe for patients with previous back surgeries?

Yes. Therapy is individually tailored for every patient’s background. Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of West Mesa, AZ, therapies are structured to recondition securely and reestablish movement without jeopardizing the spine.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
