ABOUT TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS
Trigger point injections are for those stubborn knots that never loosen, no matter what you try. Some patients describe them as hard little bumps in the muscle that stay sore all day. Others feel a pulling ache that spreads into the neck, arms, or hips. For a few, it is more like a constant cramp that drains energy and makes every movement feel restricted. These knots get in the way of daily life by interrupting sleeping through the night, turning your head to drive, and standing at the counter for more than a few minutes. Heat, massage, and stretching may give short-term relief, but the pain usually returns. At Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of Peoria, AZ, injections are one way to break that cycle. A thin needle delivers medicine directly into the knot. The muscle may twitch, then relax. For some people, relief is quick. For others, it builds gradually over the next day or two.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT
Sometimes, pain will keep you from being brought to your knees, but it does disrupt your ability to function in daily life. Perhaps it’s intermittent and stabbing, or maybe it’s just present during the day. Let’s get those details from you, and we’ll do our best to determine what’s causing it.
MINOR PAINS & ACHES
Little aches hurt just as badly. A sore shoulder, stiff knees, or a throbbing ache that shows itself every once in a while can still have its toll. Let us know how you’ve been doing, and we’ll take care of it for you before it grows into something bigger.

How do I know if what I feel is a trigger point?
Trigger points usually feel like tight knots or bands in the muscle that hurt when pressed. They often send pain into other areas. At the Peoria clinic, patients describe them as spots they can always point to, no matter the day.
Will I be sore after an injection?
It’s common to feel mild soreness for a short time. Most patients describe it as similar to post-workout soreness. Relief often grows as that soreness fades and the muscle stays relaxed.
How many injections are usually needed?
It varies. Some patients improve after just a few sessions. Others with long-standing pain may need more. The plan is adjusted around your progress and how the muscle responds.
Can I keep working or exercising after an injection?
Most patients return to normal activity the same day. Light movement is usually encouraged because it helps keep the muscle from tightening again. At Peoria, therapists provide specific advice for safe activity.
Is this treatment safe for seniors with other health issues?
