OVERVIEW

ABOUT PLANTAR FASCIITIS RELIEF

You know it the second you feel it. That first step out of bed, your heel hits the floor, and a sharp jolt shoots up from underneath like you stepped on a rock that isn't there. Walk a few minutes and it eases. Then you sit through a meeting, stand up, and it's right there waiting. That's plantar fasciitis, the band of tissue along the bottom of your foot getting irritated where it anchors at the heel. It hurts worst when the foot's been still and then loads up cold. What frustrates people is how patient it is. You can't stop walking, so the spot that's trying to heal keeps getting poked. Our team looks at how you walk, what's tight, and what's overloading that heel, then builds a plan to settle it properly. Most cases clear without anything close to surgery. It just takes the right approach and a bit of patience.

Heel pain rarely settles in one visit. At our Phoenix clinic, care runs across several weeks, giving the tissue time to calm down at a pace that holds.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

We watch how you walk, check what's tight through the calf and foot, and press to find exactly where it hurts. That read aims the plan at what's actually loading the heel.

TREATMENTS

CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM

Care might mean hands-on work, targeted stretching, strengthening, or footwear guidance at Modern Medicine of Phoenix, AZ. The plan shifts as the heel settles.

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

Answering Your Questions

Why is it worst first thing in the morning?
Overnight the tissue tightens while your foot rests in a pointed position. That first step stretches it suddenly and pulls on the irritated spot at the heel. It's the classic sign of plantar fasciitis, and usually the symptom people describe first.
Do I need special shoes or inserts?
Sometimes they help, though they're rarely the whole answer. Supportive footwear takes some strain off the tissue while it heals. What matters more is addressing the tightness and weakness that caused the problem. We advise on footwear as part of the plan, not instead of it.
Can I keep exercising with plantar fasciitis?
Often yes, with modifications. Switching to lower-impact activity while the heel calms usually works better than stopping entirely. Complete rest tends to leave the foot weak. We'll sort out what you can keep doing and what's worth pausing.
Why do my calves matter for heel pain?
Tight calves pull on the whole chain down to your heel, adding load to the exact spot that's irritated. Loosening them takes real strain off the plantar fascia, which is why calf stretching is almost always part of treatment.
How long does it take to resolve?
Cases caught early can settle within a few weeks. Ones that have dragged on for months take longer, since the tissue's been irritated a while. The morning jolt usually softens before it disappears entirely.

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
