Why You're So Tired Right Now
This week, baby's tiny heart is beginning to beat, and early development is happening quickly.
Meanwhile, your body is increasing blood flow, hormone production, and energy demands to support it all.
If exhaustion has suddenly hit hard, you're not imagining it. Week 6 is often when nausea, food aversions, and fatigue become much more noticeable.
Baby at Week 6
This week, baby is about the size of a lentil, but development is happening at an incredible pace. One of the most exciting milestones right now is the beginning of cardiac activity. Tiny facial features are starting to form, and the foundations for the brain, spinal cord, and major organs continue to develop.
Although baby is still very small, enormous growth is taking place every day. Much of what is happening now lays the groundwork for future development throughout pregnancy.
Why You Feel So Different Right Now
Hormones—including hCG and progesterone—are rising rapidly to help support pregnancy. These hormonal changes affect nearly every system in the body and can have a significant impact on energy levels, digestion, and overall well-being.
Your body is also increasing blood production and redirecting a tremendous amount of energy toward supporting baby's growth and development. That overwhelming fatigue many women experience around Week 6 is not 'just being tired.'
Nausea, food aversions, bloating, and emotional ups and downs often become more noticeable during this stage of pregnancy as hormone levels continue to climb.
Common During Week 6
Small Things That May Help
Before getting out of bed, try eating a few crackers or a small snack if nausea has started creeping in. Some women find that having a little food in their stomach before getting up can help reduce morning nausea.
Continue prioritizing hydration, rest, and simple meals throughout the day. Small, consistent habits often make a bigger difference than trying to do everything perfectly.
Support During Pregnancy
Pregnancy-focused physical therapy is not only for pain. Many women benefit from support with posture, breathing mechanics, movement strategies, pelvic floor awareness, and overall comfort as pregnancy progresses.

Surviving Counts
A reminder for today: surviving counts.
Some seasons of pregnancy are about thriving. Others are about listening to what your body needs and adjusting expectations accordingly.
If this week feels harder than expected, that does not mean you are doing anything wrong. Right now, your body is doing something extraordinary.
Rest when you need to. Ask for support when you need it. Trust that your body is working hard, even on the days when all you accomplish is getting through the day.
