Postpartum Week 1

Healing One Day at a Time

Welcome to Week 1 postpartum.
Your body has done something incredible, and now it's time to focus on healing. Give yourself permission to rest, recover, and take things one day at a time.

What Your Body Is Doing Right Now

The first week postpartum is a time of significant healing and adjustment. Whether you had a vaginal delivery or a cesarean birth, your body is working hard to recover from pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

Fatigue, soreness, swelling, emotional ups and downs, and feeling overwhelmed can all be common during this stage. Healing takes time, and recovery rarely follows a perfectly straight line.

Common During Week 1

Fatigue and interrupted sleep
Perineal or abdominal soreness
Breast fullness or feeding challenges
Emotional ups and downs
Swelling
Feeling overwhelmed by the transition to parenthood

Small Things That May Help

Drink a full glass of water each time you feed your baby. Staying hydrated can support recovery, energy levels, and overall well-being.

Small habits are often easier to maintain during the early postpartum period and can make a meaningful difference over time.

Support During Postpartum Recovery

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help support healing after birth by addressing recovery, movement, pelvic floor function, core rehabilitation, bladder and bowel concerns, scar mobility, and return to exercise.

One Day at a Time

You do not need to have everything figured out right now.

Recovery is not a race. Some days will feel easier than others, and that's okay. Healing happens one day, one feeding, one walk, and one moment at a time.

We look forward to supporting you through this next milestone and every step of your postpartum journey.
