Healing Is Still Happening
Six weeks postpartum is often treated like a milestone. And it is.
But here's something important to know: being medically cleared and feeling physically recovered are not always the same thing.
You may still notice leaking, weakness, pelvic heaviness, discomfort, back pain, or simply not feeling like yourself physically yet.
That does not mean something is wrong. It means healing is still happening.
What Your Body Is Doing Right Now
At six weeks postpartum, your body is continuing to recover from pregnancy, birth, and the demands of early parenthood. While this is often considered a milestone, recovery does not end at six weeks.
The pelvic floor, core, breathing system, posture, and overall strength continue adapting long after your postpartum checkup. Many symptoms can still be present even when healing is progressing normally.

Small Things That May Help
Try a short, gentle walk and notice how your body feels afterward—not just during.
Paying attention to how symptoms respond to activity can provide helpful information as you continue rebuilding strength and confidence.
Support During Postpartum Recovery
Pelvic floor physical therapy can help support healing after birth by addressing recovery, movement, pelvic floor function, core rehabilitation, bladder and bowel concerns, scar mobility, and return to exercise.
