Week 26 Pregnancy

You Are Carrying More

This week, baby's growth continues quickly — and your body feels it.

You may notice swelling, leg cramps, fatigue, or simply feeling heavier than before. There's a reason.

Your body is supporting increased circulation, changing posture, and growing physical demands all at once. Pregnancy is athletic in ways people don't always talk about.

Baby at Week 26

This week, baby is about the size of a zucchini and continues growing rapidly. Important development is taking place throughout the lungs, nervous system, and sensory systems as baby prepares for the weeks ahead.

Movements may feel stronger and more noticeable now, and many women begin recognizing daily patterns of activity and rest.

Why You Feel So Different Right Now

As pregnancy progresses, your body is managing increased blood volume, changing posture, growing physical demands, and the ongoing work of supporting your baby. These adaptations require energy and place new demands on muscles, joints, and circulation.

You may notice swelling in your feet or ankles, occasional leg cramps, increased fatigue, or simply feeling heavier than you did a few weeks ago. These experiences are common as your body continues adapting to pregnancy.

Your body is working hard every day, even when that work is invisible to others.

Common During Week 26

Swelling in the feet or ankles
Leg cramps
Fatigue
Pelvic pressure
Low back discomfort
Hip tightness
Feeling baby move regularly
Changes in balance and mobility

Small Things That May Help

Take a few minutes to move your ankles and calves throughout the day—especially if swelling or tightness has started creeping in.

Simple movement can help support circulation, reduce stiffness, and provide relief during long periods of sitting or standing.

Support During Pregnancy

Pregnancy-focused physical therapy is not only for pain. Many women benefit from support with posture, breathing mechanics, movement strategies, pelvic floor awareness, and overall comfort as pregnancy progresses.

Compassion Matters Too

You are not slowing down.

You are carrying more. More weight, more responsibility, more physical demand, and more adaptation than ever before.

That deserves compassion. Give yourself credit for the incredible work your body is doing every single day.
