Week 27 Pregnancy

Preparing for What's Ahead

You're nearing the third trimester. Pause for a second and appreciate how much your body has already done.

This week, baby's brain and body continue growing rapidly while your muscles, joints, and breathing mechanics keep adapting to support what's ahead.

If back discomfort, pelvic pressure, or movement changes have become more noticeable lately, you're not imagining it. This stage can feel physically demanding. And support matters.

Baby at Week 27

This week, baby is about the size of a cauliflower and continues growing quickly. Rapid brain development is taking place, and important changes are occurring throughout the nervous system, lungs, and body as baby prepares for the final trimester.

Movements may feel strong and frequent now, and many women are becoming increasingly familiar with their baby's daily activity patterns.

Why You Feel So Different Right Now

As you approach the third trimester, your body continues adapting to increasing demands. Your muscles, joints, breathing mechanics, and posture all work together to support a growing baby and changing body.

Back discomfort, pelvic pressure, changes in movement, and increased fatigue can become more noticeable during this stage. These experiences are common as the physical demands of pregnancy continue to increase.

Your body is not falling behind. It is constantly adapting to prepare for what comes next.

Common During Week 27

Pelvic pressure
Low back discomfort
Changes in breathing mechanics
Hip tightness
Fatigue
Difficulty finding comfortable positions
Feeling baby move frequently
Increased awareness of posture

Small Things That May Help

Spend five minutes doing gentle movement that feels good to your body today — walking, stretching, or simply changing positions more often.

Movement does not need to be intense to be beneficial. Small amounts of intentional movement can help support comfort, mobility, and overall well-being.

Support During Pregnancy

Pregnancy-focused physical therapy is not only for pain. Many women benefit from support with posture, breathing mechanics, movement strategies, pelvic floor awareness, and overall comfort as pregnancy progresses.

Preparation Is Strength

Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is prepare, not just push through.

As you near the third trimester, remember that support, rest, movement, and self-care are all forms of preparation for the weeks ahead.

You're doing an incredible job. Give yourself credit for how much your body has already accomplished.
