Week 28 Pregnancy

Welcome to the Third Trimester

You've entered the third trimester. Take a moment to appreciate what your body has already done.

This week, baby's eyes are beginning to open, growth is accelerating, and your body is continuing to adapt to carrying more weight, more movement, and more demand.

You may notice sleep feeling harder, your back getting tired more quickly, or positions that once felt comfortable suddenly aren't. That's common—not because your body is struggling, but because it's working hard.

Baby at Week 28

This week, baby is about the size of an eggplant and continues growing rapidly. One exciting milestone is that baby's eyes are beginning to open, allowing for even more interaction with the surrounding environment.

Brain development, lung development, and body growth continue accelerating as baby prepares for the final months of pregnancy.

Why You Feel So Different Right Now

As you enter the third trimester, your body is adapting to increasing weight, stronger fetal movement, and greater physical demands. Muscles, joints, posture, and breathing mechanics all continue adjusting to support your growing baby.

You may notice sleep becoming more challenging, increased fatigue, low back discomfort, pelvic pressure, or positions that suddenly feel less comfortable than they once did. These experiences are common during this stage of pregnancy.

Your body is not struggling—it is working incredibly hard to support the next phase of growth and development.

Common During Week 28

Difficulty finding comfortable sleeping positions
Low back discomfort
Pelvic pressure
Fatigue
Increased awareness of baby's movement
Hip tightness
Changes in breathing comfort
Swelling in the feet or ankles

Small Things That May Help

Take a minute before bed to set yourself up for sleep success. Pillows between the knees, behind the back, or under the belly can make a big difference.

Creating a comfortable sleep setup can help reduce strain on your hips, pelvis, and back while supporting better rest throughout the night.

Support During Pregnancy

Pregnancy-focused physical therapy is not only for pain. Many women benefit from support with posture, breathing mechanics, movement strategies, pelvic floor awareness, and overall comfort as pregnancy progresses.

Comfort Matters

Comfort matters.

The small choices you make to support your body—whether that's using extra pillows, changing positions more often, or asking for help when you need it—can make a meaningful difference.
