Adapting in Real Time
Baby continues growing quickly this week, and by now, your body is carrying a very different physical load than it was just a few months ago.
If things feel heavier lately—walking, standing, sleeping, or even getting comfortable—you're not imagining it.
Swelling, fatigue, and muscle soreness can become more noticeable around now. There's a reason. Your body is working incredibly hard.
Baby at Week 33
This week, baby is about the size of a pineapple and continues gaining weight, strength, and body fat. Growth remains rapid as the lungs, brain, and nervous system continue maturing in preparation for birth.
Movements may feel strong and powerful, although they may feel different as available space becomes more limited.
Why You Feel So Different Right Now
By the third trimester, your body is carrying significantly more weight and managing greater physical demands than it was earlier in pregnancy. Muscles, joints, circulation, posture, and breathing mechanics are all working together to support you and your growing baby.
It's common to notice increased fatigue, swelling, muscle soreness, or difficulty getting comfortable. Walking, standing, sleeping, and daily tasks may require more effort than they once did.
These changes are not signs that your body is struggling. They are signs that your body is adapting to an extraordinary workload.

Small Things That May Help
If possible, take short movement breaks throughout the day instead of staying in one position too long. Even a few minutes can help circulation, stiffness, and overall comfort.
Regular position changes can help your body manage the physical demands of pregnancy more comfortably.
