Rest May Look Different Right Now
This week, baby's lungs continue maturing while your body keeps preparing for birth.
At the same time, many women notice sleep becoming more challenging. Between bathroom trips, changing positions, pressure, and simply getting comfortable, rest may feel harder to come by.
If sleep feels frustrating lately, you are not alone. And you are definitely not failing at rest.
Baby at Week 34
This week, baby is about the size of a cantaloupe and continues gaining weight and strength. Lung development remains an important focus as baby prepares for life outside the womb.
Brain development, nervous system maturation, and body growth continue rapidly during these final weeks of pregnancy.
Why You Feel So Different Right Now
As your baby grows and your body prepares for birth, finding comfortable sleeping positions often becomes more challenging. Increased pelvic pressure, frequent bathroom trips, changes in breathing comfort, and difficulty turning in bed can all affect sleep quality.
Many women find themselves waking more often throughout the night or struggling to get comfortable despite feeling tired. These experiences are common during the later stages of pregnancy.
Difficulty sleeping does not mean you are doing something wrong. It often reflects the significant physical adaptations happening inside your body.

Small Things That May Help
Before bed, spend one minute slowing your breathing and adjusting pillows for support between your knees, behind your back, or under your belly.
Small changes in positioning can help reduce strain, improve comfort, and support better rest throughout the night.
Support During Pregnancy
Pregnancy-focused physical therapy is not only for pain. Many women benefit from support with posture, breathing mechanics, movement strategies, pelvic floor awareness, and overall comfort as pregnancy progresses.

Comfort Comes From Support
Sometimes comfort comes from support, not pushing through.
The small adjustments you make to support sleep, movement, and recovery matter. Pregnancy asks a lot of your body, and creating comfort where you can is part of caring for yourself.
Rest may look different right now. That's okay.
