OVERVIEW

ABOUT SPORTS MEDICINE

At Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of Goodyear, AZ, sports medicine helps people stay active without spending every week fighting the same pain. Some walk in after pulling something during a pickup game. Others deal with aches from walking trails, long gym sessions, or weekend projects that pushed their limits. Some feel sharp pain during certain motions. Others feel a slow buildup of tightness that never clears. We study how your body handles movement and where the breakdown happens. Your plan fits the way you train, work, and live. It might include hands-on care, strength drills, mobility work, or small changes to how you warm up. The goal is simple. Help you move with confidence so staying active feels possible again.

Most sports-related issues need a handful of sessions. We space them so your body improves while keeping enough consistency to build momentum.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

Your therapist checks movement during simple tasks and activity-specific motions. We look at strength, balance, mobility, and control. The goal is finding the pattern causing the pain or limiting your performance. Your plan starts with that root cause.

TREATMENTS

CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM

Treatment shifts as you progress. Early sessions focus on calming irritation or restoring clean movement. As things improve, we build strength, power, and stability so you’re ready for real-world demands again.

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

Maybe your pain isn’t keeping you back, but it is making daily living a bit harder than it has to be. If it’s sharp, annoying, or keeps coming back, let us know what you’re dealing with. We can start together to investigate why it’s happening and how we can make it better.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Minor aches may not seem significant, but sometimes they are your body’s way of telling you it needs a helping hand. Answering Your Questions

What injuries can sports medicine help with?

A long list. Ankle sprains from quick direction changes. Knee pain during squats. Hip tightness from long runs. Shoulder pain from lifting or throwing. Foot pain from hiking or walking on hard surfaces.

Does sports medicine help if I’m not a high-level athlete?

Yes. Most of our patients are everyday adults who enjoy staying active and want to do it without pain. You don’t need to compete. You only need a goal.

Why do some injuries keep coming back?

Recurring pain often comes from an underlying imbalance. Weakness on one side. Limited mobility in a key joint. Poor mechanics during a certain motion. We look at the entire movement chain so we can address the real issue, not the temporary flare.

Can sports medicine improve performance too?

Often, yes. When movement becomes smoother and more balanced, your body works with less strain. That usually translates to better strength, better control, and fewer moments where you feel hesitant or guarded.

Will I have exercises to do at home?

Most people do. Short routines. Easy to follow. Focused on the exact patterns we’re improving in the clinic. At Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of Goodyear, AZ, home work stays realistic so you stay consistent.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
