OVERVIEW

ABOUT OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

There's a particular kind of frustration in needing help with something you've done on your own your whole life. Asking someone to open a jar. Having a hard time with buttons on a shirt you've worn for years. Taking twice as long to get dressed in the morning and feeling the day start behind schedule. That's the territory occupational therapy works in. It's about the ordinary independence that slips when your hands, arms, or coordination stop fully cooperating. Our occupational therapists figure out exactly which tasks have gotten hard and what's behind it, then go to work rebuilding the strength, the dexterity, and the practical strategies to hand that independence back.

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

Function comes back step by step. At our Phoenix clinic, sessions run across several weeks, so strength and coordination rebuild at a pace that actually holds.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

Therapists look at how you manage real daily tasks and pin down where the strength, motion, or coordination falls short. That keeps the plan built around your life, not a checklist.

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

Minor aches may not seem significant, but sometimes they are your body’s way of telling you it needs a helping hand. The stiffness, soreness, or occasional pains are great things to bring to our attention. Let us know what you’ve been experiencing, and we’ll point you in the direction of care that prevents small issues from turning into large ones.

Answering Your Questions

Will occupational therapy help me stay independent at home?
That's often the whole point. The work targets the daily tasks that keep you self-sufficient, dressing, cooking, managing the bathroom, and handling your routine.
Can it help after a stroke or a neurological issue?
Yes. After a stroke or similar event, hands and arms can lose strength, coordination, and control. Occupational therapy retrains those and works on practical ways to manage daily tasks while recovery continues, so you regain as much independence as possible.
What are adaptive tools, and would I need them?
They're everyday items modified to make a task easier, like a built-up grip on a fork or a button hook for shirts. When something stays hard despite the rehab work, the right tool can bridge the gap. The therapist suggests them only where they'd genuinely help.
Do you help with getting back to hobbies, not just chores?
Definitely. The things you do for enjoyment matter as much as the necessary ones. Whether it's gardening, crafting, cards, or an instrument, therapy can work toward the specific movements and grip that those take, so you get your hobbies back too.
How long does occupational therapy usually take?
It depends on what's going on and how long it's been. Some people need a few weeks, others longer, especially after surgery or a neurological event. The plan adjusts as you improve, so it keeps matching where you actually are.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
