Feel Stronger, More Comfortable, and More Ready for Birth

Most women go into pregnancy knowing it will be hard. What they don’t expect is how little support exists on the other side of it. Labor ends and recovery is mostly left up to you. Our physical therapists in Tucson are here to make sure that changes.

I’m Pregnant

Round ligament pain that stops you mid-step. Pelvic pressure making the afternoon shift at work feel impossible. Unsure what’s still safe to do at the gym. We work through all of it, including labor prep and pushing mechanics most appointments never reach.

Birth Changes the Body. Recovery Deserves Real Care

Sprain an ankle badly enough and you go to PT. Tear a muscle and you go to PT. The logic is simple. Physical damage needs real recovery work.

Childbirth does real damage. The pelvic floor, core, and connective tissue absorb enormous strain regardless of how delivery goes. And yet most women leave the hospital with a six-week follow-up appointment and not much else.

So the symptoms linger. Leaking that becomes background noise. A back that never quite returned to normal. Sex that’s been painful since delivery. A C-section scar that tugs and nobody ever looked at.

Treatable things. Mostly untreated.

Common Doesn’t Have To Mean Normal

Patients come to us in Tucson after accepting symptoms they were told were permanent. A provider said it was just part of having kids, and that answer stuck for a while. Then they came in. And most of it turned out to be fixable. Does any of this sound familiar?

Pain while walking

Pelvic or low back pain that shows up mid-errand. Between the car and the store. Up the stairs. Standing through dinner.

Fear of Tearing

Not knowing what labor will actually do to your body or what honest recovery looks like after.

Safe Workouts

Wanting to stay active but having real uncertainty about what’s appropriate right now.

Urinary Leaking

A hard sneeze, a jump, picking up the laundry basket. If it’s happening regularly it’s not something to wait out.

How The Care Actually Works Here

No generic plans. You get assessed and treated based on what’s actually going on. Here’s how it works.

1. Checkup Before Birth

Labor mechanics, pushing positions, tearing prevention. The practical stuff that rarely fits into a standard prenatal visit.

2. Rehab Right After Delivery

Early assessment for diastasis recti, pelvic floor function, and scar tissue. Earlier means less complicated.

3. Full Recovery

Back to the movement you want. A full day without symptoms deciding what you can and can’t do.

YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. WE HAVE ANSWERS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I was told my symptoms would resolve on their own. It's been eight months.
That’s something we hear often. Some symptoms do resolve. Others don’t, and waiting doesn’t make them easier to treat. Eight months in is still a very reasonable time to start.
Can PT help if I'm planning another pregnancy soon?

Yes, and it’s worth doing before you conceive if possible. Addressing pelvic floor and core function between pregnancies puts your body in a better position going into the next one.

What if I'm not sure what's causing my symptoms?

That’s exactly what the evaluation is for. You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis or even a clear description. We piece it together through assessment and go from there.

I had a textbook delivery. Why would I need postpartum PT?

Textbook deliveries still strain the pelvic floor significantly. No complications doesn’t mean no recovery need. Most women benefit from at least a baseline assessment regardless of how things went.

Do you treat symptoms that started during pregnancy and never went away?

Yes. Symptoms that began during pregnancy and carried through delivery are common and very much within what we address. How long something has been present doesn’t disqualify it from treatment.
