OVERVIEW
Some pain acts like a flare. It settles for a bit, then it comes right back the second you do something normal. A knee swells after a grocery run. A shoulder wakes you up when you roll over. Steroid injections can help in cases like that because they calm inflammation in a specific spot. They can lower the irritation so you can walk, sleep, and move without bracing. At Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of Chandler, AZ, we use injections as one part of care, then we follow up with the work that helps results last, such as strength, mobility, and better movement habits.
BOOKING APPOINTMENTS
Use the online request form or call Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of Chandler, AZ to schedule a visit. We’ll ask where it hurts, what makes it worse, and what you’ve tried so far, then we’ll tell you what to bring.

You’ll start with an evaluation first, then we’ll decide if an injection makes sense for your situation. After the injection, we plan rehab around your response so you don’t calm it down and then stir it right back up.
DIAGNOSE
EXAM & IMAGING
We start with your history and a hands-on exam. We look at what triggers symptoms, such as stairs, reaching, sitting, walking, sleep, and we check how you move. If you have imaging, we review it, but we don’t treat a report without matching it to what you feel.
TREATMENTS
CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM
If an injection fits, we coordinate it as part of your plan and pair it with physical therapy. We work on range of motion, strength around the joint, and the way you load the area during day-to-day tasks.
FOLLOW UP
WE CALL TO CHECK IN
We check how you feel over the next days and weeks, not just the first day. If relief is limited or short, we adjust and talk through next steps. If it helps, we focus on keeping you steady so the same flare doesn’t keep cycling back.

I had an outstanding experience over the past several months at the Chandler location after a meniscus repair surgery. Collin is a top notch Physical Therapist, and he seemed to know exactly how far to push me each week. Thanks to him and all of the incredible assistants, I am now back to 100%. If I ever do get injured again and need PT, I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else but here.

I've been in to see Eric and team many times over the past 5 years for a variety of old athlete ailments and they fix me up every time. I go see them before I go to the Dr now. They are simply the best, and unfortunately I'll probably be back in the future 😁

Answering Your Questions
How do I know if I’m the kind of person an injection might actually help?
Ask yourself what your pain is doing. If it keeps flaring and it’s clearly tied to swelling or inflammation, an injection may give you the break you need to start moving better. If your pain is more “catching,” “giving way,” or nerve-like, the injection may not be the right tool.
What’s a realistic expectation for results?
Most people don’t go from miserable to perfect. The best-case scenario is that the constant irritation turns down. Sleep improves. Walking feels less guarded. You still need to build support with rehab, because injections don’t replace strength and control.
If I feel better, can I go back to my normal workouts or long walks right away?
Relief can make you feel like you’re ready for everything, but the joint or tendon might still be sensitive to load. The smarter move is to use the first week to move well and rebuild, not to test your limits.
I’ve heard steroids are bad for you. Should I be worried?
It depends on your health history and how often they’re used. A single injection is common, but it isn’t something to do casually or repeatedly without a reason. Some people get temporary side effects like a sore site or a short flare. If you have diabetes, blood sugar can rise for a bit.
What do we do if it doesn’t help much?
That happens sometimes, and it’s useful information. If your pain doesn’t change or only changes for a very short time, we look at other drivers, like mechanics, strength deficits, tendon irritation, or nerve involvement.
