OVERVIEW

ABOUT CARPAL TUNNEL INJECTIONS

Carpal tunnel symptoms start small for most people. Maybe your fingers tingle when you’re getting ready in the morning. Maybe your palm goes numb halfway through typing an email. Some notice a sharp jolt when they bend their wrist. Others feel their grip getting weaker without knowing why. You shake your hand out, and it helps for a minute. Then the numbness comes back. It slowly becomes part of your day.

Carpal tunnel injections help calm the swelling that presses on the median nerve. When that irritation settles, the nerve usually stops firing off those strange signals. At our East Mesa clinic, we take time to look at how your wrist bends, what movements cause symptoms, and how long you’ve been managing this. You get a clear plan before anything happens.

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

To set up a visit, call the East Mesa office or fill out the online form. Our staff explains what the appointment involves so you’re not walking in unsure of anything.

Most injections happen in one appointment. You might come back in a couple of weeks so we can see how your symptoms changed and what the next step should be.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

We test your wrist in different positions, check your finger sensation, and look at how your nerve responds to simple movement. These small details help confirm whether the median nerve is being compressed inside the tunnel.

TREATMENTS

CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM

The injection goes straight to the irritated area. It’s quick. You’ll feel a pinch and some pressure. Once it’s done, we talk about what the next day may feel like. Some people feel better fast. Others notice gradual change. Both are normal responses.

I was in chronic pain for 6+ months. I saw three different sports medicine physicians with no answers or relief. I started going to Bloom with the expectation of just managing my pain with dry needling. Eric did a few treatments on my shoulder as I requested but I kept coming back. He took a time out and wanted to make sure that nothing was overlooked, so he did an ultrasound. He found a rotator cuff tear, it was overlooked by other providers. I’m finally getting the right treatments and healing. I’m so so grateful that he took the time. This office is wonderful and you feel like family as soon as you walk through the door.

I started seeing Eric in the middle of last year because of a sudden back spasm injury. As an avid runner I wanted to be treated and be able to get back out there on the road again. Eric and his team gave me the confidence and the tools to have me running in 6 weeks. His knowledge and attention to his patients went far beyond what I have received in a long time at other PT facilities. I am now a healthy runner, I know what it takes to keep my body strong, and I can always visit the team when I need to keep a little tweak or get dialed in before the races.

I had never tried, or even heard of, dry needling before, but after Eric treated my elbow, it magically came around in a matter of weeks, after being tight and sore and painful for months post-surgery. I couldn’t believe it! He then turned his attention to areas of my back, hips and legs, and the impact was similarly fantastic! I can’t say enough about the procedure, and Eric’s expertise in it!… In addition to the dry needling, Eric and Frank have put me through and given me a variety of core and functional exercises to help with my strength and stability…

Answering Your Questions

What symptoms suggest I might benefit from an injection?
If your fingers go numb often, if your palm feels “electric,” or if your grip strength is fading, those can be signs that the median nerve is irritated.
Does carpal tunnel always get worse?
Not always, but many people see symptoms increase over time because they repeat the same wrist positions every day. Early care helps limit that.
Can I go back to normal activity after the injection?
Most people can. If your job involves gripping tools or lifting, we may tell you to take it easy for the rest of the day.
Do braces help at night?
They can. For some people, they keep the wrist from bending in ways that irritate the nerve while sleeping. We base the recommendation on your symptoms.
Will I need therapy afterward?
Many people do better when therapy supports the injection. Strengthening, mobility, and nerve-gliding work help the nerve stay calm and reduce the chance that symptoms return.

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
