OVERVIEW

ABOUT PLANTAR FASCITIS RELIEF

Most people try to wait plantar fasciitis out. Most find out the hard way it doesn't cooperate. It's the heel pain that hangs on for months, flares right when you think it's gone, and laughs off that stretching video you found online. The tissue under your foot has gotten irritated where it grabs onto the heel, and every step keeps poking the exact spot that's trying to heal. That's why it drags. Rest won't fix it, since you've got to be on your feet. Pushing through won't either. What settles it is figuring out why the tissue got overloaded, then taking that load off. Tight calves. A weak foot with no arch support of its own. Long days on hard floors. We track down what's driving yours and build the plan around it, so you actually get past it instead of babysitting the next flare. Almost none of this needs surgery. Just the right approach and a little patience.

Heel pain rarely settles in one visit. At Modern Medicine of Oro Valley, AZ, care runs across several weeks, giving the tissue time to calm down at a pace that holds.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

We watch how you walk, check what's tight through the calf and foot, and press to find exactly where it hurts. That read aims the plan at what's actually loading the heel.

TREATMENTS

CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM

Care might mean hands-on work, stretching, strengthening, or footwear guidance, and it shifts as the heel settles. We adjust as your foot responds.

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

What Are You Experiencing?

Most people know something is off before they know what to call it. Just describe what daily life actually feels like right now and the team will follow up, talk through what might be driving it, and discuss what a realistic path looks like.

  LOW  HIGH

SEVERE PAIN

Sudden and extreme pain that is stopping you from functioning needs immediate attention. Call 911 or go straight to a hospital. Only once the situation is handled can the team help with what recovery looks like after.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

Pain that gets in the way without completely shutting the day down. Builds through a long shift, shows up during certain movements, or just sits there in the background. Share what is going on and the team will work through what is likely behind it.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Do you have a hip that tightens up on longer hikes but feels fine otherwise? A wrist that aches after racket sports and takes a day to settle? These so-called “minor” issues can start off small, and then become bigger when left unaddressed.

Answering Your Questions

Why does it keep coming back after I think it's gone?

Usually because the pain faded before the tissue actually healed, and the cause never got dealt with. People drop the stretches, go back to the same shoes and mileage, and it flares again. Fixing it for good means going after the cause, which is what we focus on at Modern Medicine of Oro Valley, AZ.

Is it actually plantar fasciitis or something else?
Worth confirming, since heel pain has a few sources. Plantar fasciitis has a telltale pattern, worst after rest, better once you get moving. But a heel bruise, a nerve issue, or an Achilles problem can feel a lot like it. The evaluation sorts out which one it is.
Do I really need strengthening, or just stretching?

Both, and the strengthening is the part people skip. Stretching loosens the tight calves and tissue, which helps. But building up the small muscles in the foot and lower leg gives the arch real support, so the plantar fascia quits getting overloaded. That's often what makes it stick.

Should I stop walking or exercising?

Not stop, usually. Just adjust. Swapping to lower-impact stuff while the heel calms beats total rest, which leaves the foot weak. We'll figure out what you can keep doing and what's worth easing off for a while.

How long does it take to get better?

Depends how long you've had it. Caught early, a few weeks. If it's been months, longer, since the foot needs time to build support. Either way, steady work almost always gets there.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
