OVERVIEW

ABOUT Car Accident Rehab

After a car accident, a lot of people are not sure what to make of their symptoms. Maybe your neck feels tight when you turn to back out of the driveway. Maybe your lower back starts aching after ten minutes in a chair. That kind of pain throws people off because it does not always hit right away, and it does not always stay the same from hour to hour. You start testing little things all day. Can I lift this? Can I turn this far? Can I sit here much longer?

At Modern Medicine of Tucson, AZ, we help people who feel like their body has been off ever since the crash. Sometimes the problem is obvious. Sometimes it is more like everything feels tighter, touchier, and less dependable than it should. Car accident rehab is meant to sort that out. We look at what changed, what keeps flaring up, and what your body may need to settle down and move more normally again.

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

Call the clinic or book online, and we will tell you what the first visit usually looks like. If you went to urgent care, the ER, or another office first, bring any paperwork you have so we can see what has already been done.

Some people start rehab right after the first visit, and some need a little more sorting out first. If treatment makes sense, we set it up around your symptoms, your schedule, and how your body responds as you get going.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

We start with what has been bothering you since the accident, whether that is driving, sleeping, turning your head, bending down, walking, or just getting through the day. Then we look at how you move, where things feel stiff or weak, and what seems to keep the pain hanging around.

TREATMENTS

CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM

After the evaluation, we explain what stands out in plain language. Then we talk through what may help, whether that is rehab exercise, hands-on care, changes to daily activity, or another next step.

WE CALL TO CHECK IN

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

What Are You Experiencing?

You don’t have to have it all figured out by yourself. Most people just know that it hurts, not how to fix it. That’s enough. Fill out this simple form and let us know in your own words how it’s hurting. We’ll take a look and then give you a call in order to take you through what may be happening and how we may be able to help.

SEVERE PAIN

If your pain is severe and you cannot manage it, don’t wait. Call 911 or come directly to your local hospital. Attend to the emergency first. When you are in a place of safety and ready, we will have follow-up care and recovery available.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

This type of pain will interfere with daily life. Sometimes it’s a sharp, aching type, sometimes it’ll just be a dull sensation. Either way, however, it’s a good idea to pay attention to it. Take note of how it feels, and we can go from there in figuring out what’s going on.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Even tiny aches add up. That sore back, muscle pains, or that pesky hurt you keep postponing do matter and could ruin your day. Let us in on what you’ve noticed, and we’ll collaborate to keep things from escalating.

Answering Your Questions

What if I felt okay at first and the pain showed up later?
That happens all the time after a crash. It is still worth getting checked, especially if things are not easing up or daily movement feels more irritating than it should.
What kinds of symptoms can rehab help with?
A lot of people come in with neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, headaches, stiffness, or movement that just feels off. Sometimes they cannot explain it well, they just know their body has not felt normal since the accident.
Do I need imaging before I come in?

Not always. Some people already have it and some do not, so we start with what you are feeling and go from there.

What should I wear to the visit?

Wear something comfortable that you can move around in easily. Shorts, leggings, a T-shirt, or gym clothes usually work well.

How long does it usually take to feel better?

That depends on what got irritated in the accident and how your body responds once treatment starts. Some people improve pretty quickly, and some need more time to calm things down and build back up.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
