OVERVIEW

ABOUT CARPAL TUNNEL INJECTIONS

Carpal tunnel rarely shows up all at once. It builds slowly. Maybe your fingers tingle when you hold a cup or stir a pot. Maybe your palm goes numb after ten minutes on the computer. Some people wake up at night shaking their hands because the feeling disappears. Others feel a sharp, strange jolt when they bend their wrist too far or hold it in one position. Tasks that used to feel automatic start to feel awkward. You drop things. You hesitate before lifting anything heavier than a coffee mug. It starts as an inconvenience and quietly grows into a real disruption.

At our Tucson clinic, we use carpal tunnel injections to settle the irritation inside the narrow space where the median nerve runs. That space is small. When the tissue swells, the nerve gets crowded and reacts. The injection helps calm that irritation so the nerve can breathe again. Before we even talk about doing it, we watch how your wrist moves, ask when the symptoms flare, and check your strength and sensation.

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

You can call the Tucson office or book online. Someone will talk you through the steps so you know what the visit feels like from start to finish.

Most injections take a single appointment. Some people return later so we can see how symptoms changed and whether you need extra support.

DIAGNOSE

EXAM & IMAGING

We check positions that usually trigger carpal tunnel symptoms. Wrist bending. Finger pressure tests. Hand strength. We look for the exact pattern you’re dealing with. Every person has a slightly different version of this, and the treatment works better when we understand yours.

TREATMENTS

CUSTOM TREATMENT PROGRAM

The injection is quick. A pinch. A bit of pressure. Then it’s done. We explain what a normal response looks like. We also talk about which activities to keep easy for the rest of the day while the nerve settles.

FOLLOW UP

WE CALL TO CHECK IN

During follow-ups, we look for changes you might not even notice yet. Less numbness. A grip that feels steadier. If the nerve still needs help, we may add wrist or forearm strengthening, nerve-gliding drills, or posture changes that make a big difference long-term.

Office was very welcoming from the moment you walked into the office, Marissa and Kelsey were there to greet me. They know all of their patients and treat them like family. Dr. Dault was AMAZING. SHE listened and really searched to find the answers to my pain. Eric was very thorough when doing my ultrasound to diagnose my issue. Their recommendations helped me and in the end my pain decreased! Thank you to the entire team!

I was in a pretty dark place before starting at the Chandler location. My low back pain was completely debilitating and affecting the quality of my life for many years. I saw Phil once a week for 6 weeks and feel stronger and more confident than I have in many, many years. Phil explained the results of my MRI in great detail and answered my questions (as trivial as they might have been) with respect and understanding... I have been to many physical therapists before and the results I got here were the best. I highly recommend the Chandler location and will go back again if I ever need to!

Where do I start with the praise for this Team of miracle workers... I had suffered from chronic lower back pain for the last 8 years due to 32 years of golf and upper back pain due to 13 years of sitting at a desk. I utilized a chiropractor for the past 7 years but the pain ALWAYS came back and I NEVER got better. One visit with Dr. Josh and two X-rays showed the problem was stemming from my foot and a collapsing arch—which my previous chiropractor NEVER took the time to explore and diagnose.

What Are You Experiencing?

You don’t have to have it all figured out by yourself. Most people just know that it hurts, not how to fix it. That’s enough. Fill out this simple form and let us know in your own words how it’s hurting. We’ll take a look and then give you a call in order to take you through what may be happening and how we may be able to help.

SEVERE PAIN

If your pain is severe and you cannot manage it, don’t wait. Call 911 or come directly to your local hospital. Attend to the emergency first. When you are in a place of safety and ready, we will have follow-up care and recovery available.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

This type of pain will interfere with daily life. Sometimes it’s a sharp, aching type, sometimes it’ll just be a dull sensation. Either way, however, it’s a good idea to pay attention to it. Take note of how it feels, and we can go from there in figuring out what’s going on.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Even tiny aches add up. That sore back, muscle pains, or that pesky hurt you keep postponing do matter and could ruin your day. Let us in on what you’ve noticed, and we’ll collaborate to keep things from escalating.

Answering Your Questions

Can carpal tunnel make my fingers feel clumsy or thick?
Yes. Many people describe it that way. The nerve controls sensation, so when it’s irritated, the hand can feel “off” even without swelling.
Why do symptoms flare more when I drive?
Most people bend their wrists without realizing it. That position tightens the tunnel and presses on the nerve. Once things calm down, driving usually becomes easier.
Do I need to rest after the injection?
Not much. You can use your hand for light tasks. We usually suggest avoiding heavy gripping, twisting, or long tool use for the rest of the day.
Does this replace therapy?
Not always. The injection calms the irritation, but therapy helps prevent it from coming back. Strength, posture, wrist mechanics, and your daily habits all play a role.
Why does the pain sometimes move into the forearm?
Irritated nerves can send signals up the arm, not just down into the hand. When the pressure in the wrist improves, that pulling or aching often fades too.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
