OVERVIEW

ABOUT PLANTAR FASCITIS RELIEF

The alarm clock of plantar fasciitis is that first step in the morning. Your heel hits the floor and a sharp jolt shoots up like a shock. It loosens once you get moving, then ambushes you again after you've been sitting a while and stand back up. That's the band of tissue along the bottom of your foot getting irritated where it anchors at the heel, and it hurts most when the foot's been still and then loads up cold. The maddening part is that you can't just rest it. You have to walk, so the spot that's trying to heal keeps getting poked. Our team looks at how you walk, what's tight up the chain, and what's actually overloading that heel, then builds a plan to settle it for real. Most cases clear without anything close to surgery. It just takes the right approach and a little patience.

Heel pain rarely settles in one visit. At our Peoria clinic, care runs across several weeks, giving the tissue time to calm down at a pace that holds.

EXAM & IMAGING

The front office staff, especially Cheri is wonderful to work with and happy to help with your needs. The therapists there have a great team and attitude. They definitely want to see you succeed. Ian has a great bedside manner but really they all do. I would recommend them anytime.

Fantastic results for chronic sciatica after just 3 weeks. Everyone is kind, helpful and meets you where you are at. I’m so grateful to have found Modern PT.

Modern Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine exceeded my expectations. Being able to get the diagnosis through ultrasound on the first visit is so much more efficient in diagnosing and determining the treatment plan. It was amazing to be able to see the collaboration between Dr. Davies, PT Tim Moxie and Ryan with ultrasound. They are all very caring and I am currently receiving outstanding PT through Tim for shoulder pain. They offer additional treatment options as well. The office staff is flexible. I am recommending this office to friends and family.

What Are You Experiencing?

Pain is hard to put into words. You might not have a good sense of what kind of care you need, and that’s OK. What matters is how things are right now. Please fill out this short form to summarize how things are. We will then follow up and take you through what may be causing the pain, as well as what may work as a solution.

SEVERE PAIN

If the pain is severe such that you are unable to deal, don’t wait. Call 911 or go straight to a hospital. Safety is essential, no matter what. That initial action, after which we are able to lend a hand in helping you find longer-term relief.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

Sometimes, pain will keep you from being brought to your knees, but it does disrupt your ability to function in daily life. Perhaps it’s intermittent and stabbing, or maybe it’s just present during the day. Let’s get those details from you, and we’ll do our best to determine what’s causing it.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Little aches hurt just as badly. A sore shoulder, stiff knees, or a throbbing ache that shows itself every once in a while can still have its toll. Let us know how you’ve been doing, and we’ll take care of it for you before it grows into something bigger.

Answering Your Questions

Why is that first morning step the worst?
Overnight your foot rests in a pointed position and the tissue tightens up. That first step stretches it all at once and yanks on the irritated spot at the heel. It's the hallmark of plantar fasciitis.
Will new shoes or inserts fix it?
They can help, but they're rarely the whole answer. Supportive footwear takes some load off the tissue while it heals. What matters more is fixing the tightness and weakness that caused the problem in the first place. We fold footwear advice into the plan rather than leaning on it alone.
Can I keep working out?
Often yes, with some swaps. Switching to lower-impact activity while the heel calms usually beats stopping cold, since complete rest tends to leave the foot weak. We'll sort out what you can keep doing and what's worth easing off for a bit.
What do my calves have to do with my heel?
More than you'd think. Tight calves pull on the whole chain running down to your heel, piling extra load onto the exact spot that's already irritated. Loosening them takes real strain off the plantar fascia, which is why calf stretching is almost always part of the plan.
How long until it's actually gone?
It depends on how long you've had it. Caught early, it can settle in a few weeks. If it's dragged on for months, it takes longer, since the tissue's been irritated a while. The morning jolt usually eases off well before it disappears for good.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
