OVERVIEW
ABOUT SPINAL & DISC REHABILITATION
Spinal and disc rehabilitation helps anyone who feels like their back or neck has been holding them back for years. Some describe the sharp pinch that comes when they bend over to pick something up. Others talk about an ache that builds across the lower back every afternoon until sitting or standing feels the same, uncomfortable. A few feel burning or tingling down into the legs, which makes walking longer distances harder than it should be. These problems are more than pain. They change confidence in your body. You start moving carefully, avoiding things you once did without thinking. At the Peoria clinic, therapists take time to figure out why the pain sticks around. Weak muscles, stiff joints, discs that stay irritated, poor movement habits, sometimes all of them together. Each plan is personal. Some sessions focus on core strength, others on stretching, mobility, or hands-on work. Progress may not be instant, but step by step, patients start to trust their spine again.

DJ at Modern Sports Medicine Physical Therapy and Orthopedics in Peoria, AZ is by far the best physical therapist I’ve worked with! He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and clearly knows what he’s doing. His hands-on manipulation and manual therapy is over the top! I came from another physical therapy practice, and the care there wasn’t even close to the level I’ve received here. I’m very happy I made the switch and met DJ. Highly recommend him and this clinic. He is the best!!

I had a bad knee injury due to a sidewalk fall resulting in some major swelling, cuts and bruises and a slightly impacted meniscus tear. After seeing my PCP and having x-rays, I was directed to Physical Therapy. I searched several facilities and landed at Modern PT. I worked directly with DJ Repp for about 8 weeks and have to say DJ & his team are amazing. They were personable, and highly pro in all that they did in guiding the process to recovery. They work "together" with you according to a pace that you're comfortable with, while providing just enough challenge to keep you forward focused. I recovered so well under their great care. I would highly recommended this particular office at 83rd Ave & Cactus! in Peoria.

SEVERE PAIN
If the pain is severe or more than you can manage, don’t wait. Call 911 or go straight to a hospital. Safety comes first. After that, we can help you find longer-term relief.
MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT
Sometimes, pain may not bring you to your knees, but it still disrupts your daily life. Perhaps it’s intermittent and stabbing, or maybe it’s just present during the day. Let’s get those details from you, and we’ll do our best to determine what’s causing it.
MINOR PAINS & ACHES
Little aches hurt just as badly. A sore shoulder, stiff knees, or a throbbing ache that shows itself every once in a while can still take its toll. Let us know how you’ve been doing, and we’ll take care of it for you before it grows into something bigger.

Answering Your Questions
What kinds of spine problems are treated with rehab?
These patients come in with herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and persistent stiffness. A few even come in years after bad posture or previous injuries that healed partially.
Can spinal rehab help with radiating pain into the arms or legs?
Yes. Many patients describe nerve pain that spreads beyond the spine. Therapy helps reduce irritation and strengthen support muscles so that pain is less likely to flare.
What should I expect during the early sessions?
The initial few appointments tend to emphasize soft mobility and fundamental strength. Peoria therapists begin slowly, then incorporate more as your body becomes accustomed. By doing this, the pace is gradual rather than overwhelming.
How do I know therapy is working if pain is still there?
It isn’t always zero pain. It may be sitting longer without pain, walking further, or sleeping through the night. These indicators indicate therapy is effective even before the pain is eliminated.
Is spinal rehab safe for older adults?
Yes. Sessions are individually adapted to safety and comfort. Strengthening exercises, gentle stretching, and balance retraining are typical. Therapy benefits many older adults in Peoria to stay active and independent.
"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."
