OVERVIEW

ABOUT PELVIC FLOOR REHAB
At Modern Medicine Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine of Sun Lakes, AZ, pelvic floor rehab is about helping you feel like your body’s working with you again. Maybe it’s bladder leaks, that heavy pressure, or pain that shows up out of nowhere. All this pain and discomfort wear you down. These muscles do more than most people think. They help with balance, support your organs, and even play a part in breathing. When they tighten or weaken, everything feels off.

During your visit, we take time to talk. You can explain what’s been happening in plain terms. Then we see how your body moves and how those muscles react. Once we know what’s going on, we build a plan that fits. Some people need to relax tight muscles. Others work on control and strength. Each session is quiet, private, and paced to what you’re ready for. The goal is simple: to help you feel steady, comfortable, and in control again.

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

You can schedule online or call the Sun Lakes office. We’ll explain how your first appointment goes and answer questions before you come in.

Orthopedic Experts

I highly recommend Modern Physical Therapy in Sun Lakes. Dr. McKenna Brown was my Physical Therapist. She was excellent and when I left, so did the pain I arrived with. Both of her Techs, Laurence and Brayden were great. They all work together like a well oiled machine. It was easy to tell that everyone there, including Jake PT were all good at their jobs. It was always a pleasure to be greeted by Lexi at the front desk. Needless to say I was kind of sorry I had leave but I plan on stopping by to say hello from time to time.

I’ve had such a positive experience here! The entire team is incredibly kind, welcoming, and easy to talk to. They know every patient by name and remember the details of your care. They work together seamlessly to make sure you feel supported, confident, and prepared—both in sessions and at home. They’ve also been super flexible with my work schedule. I was nervous going in based on past PT experiences, but this team completely changed that. Highly recommend!!!!

With the help of Dr. McKenna Brown and her staff, I was able to regain my mobility and get back to my normal routine. She was patient, understanding, and encouraging, and I always felt like she had my best interests at heart. Jake and all the staff are professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I can’t thank them enough for the amazing care they provided.

What Are You Experiencing?

Most people don’t walk in knowing the exact treatment. They just know something hurts. That’s enough. Use the short form to tell us what’s going on, even if it’s just “my back feels tight” or “this pain won’t leave me alone.” Once we get it, we’ll give you a call and talk through what might be happening and how we can help.

SEVERE PAIN

If the pain is so strong you can’t think straight, don’t wait. Call 911 or get to the hospital. Your safety comes first. Once that’s handled, we’ll be here to focus on the next steps with you.

MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT

This kind of pain doesn’t always stop your day, but it makes everything harder. Some describe it as sharp, others say it’s dull and always there. However you explain it, just write it down. We’ll use that to start figuring out what’s going on.

MINOR PAINS & ACHES

Little aches may seem easy to ignore, but they add up. A stiff shoulder in the morning, sore feet after work, or that one spot that acts up every now and then, they matter too. Tell us what you’ve noticed, and we’ll help you get ahead of it.

Answering Your Questions

Can therapy help with frequent restroom trips?
Yes. That urge to always go is usually muscle tension. Once those muscles relax and relearn their timing, the bladder calms down and trips to the bathroom space out.
What if I’ve already tried exercises at home?
That’s fine. Most people have. The difference here is accuracy, like knowing which muscles are doing too much and which ones need support. Your therapist personalizes everything.
Can therapy help after hip or abdominal surgery?
Definitely. After surgery, those muscles and nerves often lose coordination. Therapy helps restore control and movement without straining the area.
Will I have to do exercises between visits?
Yes, but they’re short and easy. A few minutes a day keeps things improving and helps the results last longer.
Is therapy only for women?
No. Men come in too, especially after prostate surgery or with pelvic pain that affects movement. Every session is private and tailored to the person.
How long until results show?
It depends on the body and the issue. Some people feel a difference in a few visits. Others take longer. Progress happens bit by bit, but it builds fast once the muscles respond.

"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."

MODERN MEDICINE
CEO

"When an athlete gets injured, a team of doctors and therapists evaluates them, orders imaging, and decides the best path forward. If surgery is needed, they go straight to surgery; if not, they get condition-specific physical therapy and targeted injections to speed healing. This is the same process pro athletes use to get back on the field quickly—and at Modern, you can access that same level of care for the same cost as any other physical therapy clinic."   - Josh Adams
