OVERVIEW
ABOUT OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
There's a moment a lot of people remember. Going to sign their name and watching the signature come out shaky, or not being able to hold the pen long enough to finish a form. Small thing, but it lands hard, because it's something you've done ten thousand times without thinking. That's the kind of thing occupational therapy is built around. The everyday actions your hands and arms handle automatically, right up until they don't. Writing. Fastening. Gripping. Carrying. Managing the dozens of small motions that a normal day runs on. Our occupational therapists figure out which of those have gotten hard for you and what's actually behind it, then rebuild the strength, control, and coordination to get them back.
BOOKING APPOINTMENTS
Easy to get going. Call us or send a request through the online form if that's simpler for you. Someone on our team grabs a time, fields your questions, and tells you what the first visit looks like.

Hands and arms rebuild gradually. At our Surprise clinic, visits run across several weeks, so strength, control, and coordination return at a pace that holds.
DIAGNOSE
EXAM & IMAGING
Therapists watch how your hands manage real tasks, then find where the strength, motion, or coordination is falling short. That keeps the plan tied to your life, not a template.

What Are You Experiencing?
You don’t need to know the exact name of what’s going on and most people don’t. What matters is how it feels to you. Use the short form to tell us, even if it’s just “my back hurts when I wake up” or “it feels like a sharp pinch.” Once we see it, we’ll give you a call to talk things over and figure out some next steps together.
LOW HIGH
SEVERE PAIN
If the pain is so bad you can’t think straight, please stop here and call 911 or go to the hospital. Getting safe is the first step. When you’re ready afterward, we’ll be here to talk about longer-term help.
MODERATE PAIN / DISCOMFORT
This kind of pain might not knock you down, but it makes life harder than it should be. Maybe it’s a stabbing pain when you move a certain way, or maybe it’s a dull ache that just won’t quit. Write it down as best you can. That’s all we need to get started.
MINOR PAINS & ACHES
Little things add up, too. A stiff neck, sore knees, or that nagging twinge you keep brushing off all matter. Share what you’ve been noticing, and we’ll help you keep it from becoming something bigger.

Answering Your Questions
My handwriting has gotten shaky and tiring. Can therapy help?
Often, yes. Shaky or tiring handwriting can come from weakness, coordination trouble, or a nerve issue, and each responds to different work. The evaluation pins down the cause, then targets the grip, control, and endurance behind it.
Is occupational therapy only for the hands?
Mostly the hands and arms, but it's really about function. The work centers on the upper body because that's what handles daily tasks, though it also covers strategies, tools, and sometimes the whole approach to an activity. The thread is getting daily tasks done.
Can it help with arthritis pain during daily tasks?
Yes. Arthritis makes gripping, twisting, and pinching painful, and therapy works on keeping the joints moving, building what strength it can, and finding easier ways to do the tasks that hurt. The aim is to keep your hands working for everyday life with less pain.
What happens at the first appointment?
It starts with a conversation about what's gotten hard, then the therapist watches your hands work through some real tasks. From there, they identify where things break down and start mapping a plan. You leave with a direction rather than just a list of problems.
Do I need a doctor's referral to come in?
In many cases no, though it can depend on your insurance. The staff at our Surprise clinic can check your coverage and tell you exactly what's needed before you come in, so getting started is straightforward.
"Our goal is to help you solve some of your most painful life experiences."
