OVERVIEW
ABOUT ORTHOPEDICS
Orthopedic care puts life back on track when pain, stiffness, or injury interrupts daily living. It may be a knee that groans every step up the stairs for one patient, or a shoulder that never was quite the same after that previous injury, or arthritis that makes it difficult to arise from a chair. Disorders of bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments can cause everyday chores to become more laborious than they have to be. At Modern Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, personalized orthopedic physical therapy is customized to address the root cause of these problems. Treatment can include strengthening of weak areas, stretching of stiffened-up areas, or hands-on treatment of inflammation. Each program is shaped and molded to fit the individual and not the diagnosis. Improvement is rapid for other patients, and others need steady effort and treatment that may take weeks. Either way, it is about durable changes that allow individuals to move more easily and return to their sport or hobby.

This is our go to place for all physical therapy! We have been coming here for at least 3 years now for my daughter’s sports injuries from dance. They also do imaging so it is a 1 stop clinic. We have been very pleased with the results but what’s set them apart is the staff. They take their time to explain everything to you, take their time with the therapy and treat you like family. We highly recommend them to everyone we know!

Anyone looking for a PT team look no further. I had an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery mid-September. Physical Therapy was recommended after week 4 post surgery. My journey to find the right fit began and ended at Modern Physical Therapy in Gilbert. I was looking for a ‘team’ that would partner with me so I would receive the best, safest and most effective care/results possible knowing that my recovery would not be easy or a quick fix. My treatments began the beginning of October with Ben and Drey who are great listeners, are extremely accomplished with all types of needs and have been an amazing part of my team. Equally as important are the girls who are at the front desk. The girls are first to welcome you, accommodate your schedules while making appts, and answer any questions you may have with insurance etc. I highly recommend Modern PT and their entire team!!

Modern PT is excellent. They are very supportive and really do a good job with therapy. The whole staff is very kind. They take 1 hour and run on time which I really like. I appreciate their treatments. I feel much better after a hard surgery.magnam.

Answering Your Questions
What types of conditions are treated with orthopedic therapy?
Orthopedic physical therapy addresses arthritis, problems with tendons, ligament sprains, fractures, and post-surgery rehabilitation. Chronic back or neck issues stemming from years of wear and tear are frequent reasons patients visit.
How does orthopedic therapy actually reduce pain?
It reduces pain by treating the cause rather than masking symptoms. Strengthening weak muscles provides more joint support, and movement and stretching drills improve the range of motion.
How soon should I expect results from therapy?
It varies. Certain patients may show significant improvement after a few treatment sessions, and others may take a few weeks to show noticeable changes. It is reliant on the severity of the patient and compliance with the program. Smaller changes tend to emerge first, e.g., reduced stiffness or increased mobility.
Does it work on older adults?
Yes. Treatment is tailored by ability and age and is therefore safe in older patients. Balance training is typical, with gentle strengthening and mobility work. Patients typically gain more independence and confidence with progressive treatment.
Can orthopedic therapy prevent future injuries?
Yes, prevention is indeed one of the best benefits. Through the increase of strength, movement patterns, and flexibility, therapy decreases the likelihood of being reinjured. Building resilience such that it is effective allows for long-term physical activity.
